In April, Sasha became 19 months old. After a full month in nursery it became evident she was often a comfort to some of the other kids. Specifically my friend Melanie's daughter (2 months older) found it easier having a friend in class with her. She had always thrown a fit, but that happened much less often once Sasha was in there regularly.
And as it turns out, the Hulk is a comfort to Sasha. Every opportunity she had, Sasha would walk around with him, hugging him, saying "Oak. Oak."
She thought it was hilarious to wear Kaleb's giant Hulk hands!
We think she loves the Hulk so much cuz he reminds her of Daddy!
Sasha learned how to do somersaults this month. She also started walking around on her tiptoes occasionally, like she was trying to be a Barbie doll.
And finally found the joy in swinging, something she never really appreciated before.
And she learned how to blow bubbles.
Sasha also experienced her first Easter Egg hunt. More on our Easter fun in another post.
We joined Sasha and Kaleb's bedtime routines so that it saves us a bit of time. One of them gets to pick a book and the other a song. This is difficult when Sasha picks a song, cuz most of the time we have no idea what she wants.
This is the month Sasha's vocabulary just blossomed. By the time she turned 19 months, she had around 50 words (I started keeping better track to get an accurate count). Some of the new words included:
There. Stuck. Blocks. Pretty. Soft. Sorry. Egg. Moon. Apple. Pig. Juice.
She learned to say names including her Aunt "Jazzie."
and her cousins "Lilly" and "Ellie" and our dog "ZeeZee"
She even started saying phrases and sentences including:
"Right here."
"Ni-Night"
"Where's Daddy?"
"It's a bug"
One funny speaking quirk I noticed this month is that if she got mildly hurt like bumping her head or tripping she would say "Hi. Hi." Almost as if to say "HELLO!" It made me laugh every time.
It shocks me how completely unaffected she is by physical pain. We were at a park for a church activity, and she comes up to me, and just starts saying "Ow" and pulling at her shorts. Turned out she had a pretty nasty scrape on her knee but didn't shed a tear about it.
This is also the month we met Sasha's doppleganger. We were eating at Fuddrucker's one night and saw a little girl that looked a WHOLE LOT like Sasha. We introduced ourselves to her family and found out that their little girl was born at the same hospital the day before Sasha. What's even funnier is that her mom had always wondered where she got straight hair and we've always wondered where Sasha got curly hair. This picture doesn't do the long lost twin justice, but let's just say it made us all laugh how freaky it was.
I continue to appreciate how silly our little girl is, and how much she finds fun in everything.
One last pose for the camera with her lovely accessories. Work it, GIRL!!
