Ahhh, Memories!!

Now that it's been a few weeks since Kaleb was born, I'm starting to remember all of the things that I liked about NOT being pregnant:

Jeans-I love jeans. For some reason, they make me feel more together than when I wear slacks. Normally I wouldn't be so excited about denim in the summer, but since its been three or four months since I've worn and jeans and even longer since I've been comfortable in them, I have been wearing them every day I can!!

Mint Gum-Since I was a kid I would chew at least a pack of Extra Sugarfree Gum a day. It was my way of trying to ignore my desire to eat, and normally it worked. Well, as soon as I got pregnant, chewing mint gum made me nauseous. I could still do it occasionally but only when the flavor I had in my mouth (after some really strong salsa or something) was even worse than stomaching the gum flavor for a few minutes. Now, though I can pop a stick for almost an hour without thinking. AWESOME!!

No cravings- My morning sickness wasn't that bad, but I definitely had preferences and aversions to certain foods. As soon as Kaleb was born, they asked me if I wanted anything to eat. Since it was 7 o'clock in the morning I got orange juice and some cereal, but I didn't really know what to ask for. WHY?!? Cuz I didn't have any cravings. Ever since then, I've actually been able to decide what I wanted to eat based on whats available, not what's not gonna make me hurl!

My right fingers- I've had some permanent numbness in the thumb, index finger and middle finger of my right hand for the last three or four months with it pregressively getting worse and even my whole arm would grow completely useless in the wrong position. Now, I still have a little tingling in my thumb, but so little compared to what I used to have.

My bed- Lying on my side was easily the most comfortable position for me those last few months, but I had forgotten how wonderfully large and cozy my bed was. Now I can sleep however I like and I enjoy it!!

Standing and walking-I can stand up without using my hands... and I can walk without thinking, "AH, geez I gotta pee again!" There's nothing else to say about that!

Hugging my hubby- I forgot how much I liked to just snuggle up to Ammon as close as I could! He's just so cuddly!!!

Our Rooster Gloria

With all that has been going on in our lives, it seems like it wouldn't be that much to ask to have our animals be just fine and dandy, but NOOOO!!! We have ten two-month old chickens (four Rhode Island Reds; three Barred Rocks and three Americaunas), and last week, our flock decided to ostracize our three Americaunas. At first it was just the biggest in the flock, aptly named Big Mama, but then the other two were quickly turned out as well. Since our chickens are getting quite large and we haven't had the chance to build a new pen, we thought they were just trying to make room. Well, after some observation and a little research, we realized that one of our chickens, a Barred Rock I had named Gloria is in fact a Rooster. Apparently Roosters have a tendency to be more agressive than hens and he didn't take a liking to any of the Americaunas. So now we have to have three separate pens: one for the rooster, one for the three Americaunas and one for the the rest of the flock! Stupid high-maintenance birds!!

Baby Bump

Ammon took this picture of himself the other day to mimic my belly bump photo from our Babymoon. It makes me laugh every time I look at it, so of course, its going on the blog!!

Fun Family Photos

Nothing much to report, as far as Kaleb is concerned except that his umbilical chord fell off today. We are trying to get him on a regular schedule using the Becoming Babywise method, which is helping me get some decent sleep at night, but since we are still just starting I don't have much to say about it just yet. We still can't help but stare at him. Plus he has been awake a LOT more this week, so he stares back at us. These are just some fun photos that we have taken this week including our second family photo EVER, taken at my brother's wedding reception.

So Long, Silverado

Last week was one of ups and downs and amongst the downs was our sarcastically wonderful trip to surrender our Chevy Silverado. Since Ammon's shop has been unable to give him work for the last six weeks, we have been unable to make any payments on our truck since then. So four days after we got home from the hospital, we got a call from AZ State Credit Union notifying us that we had 24 hours to surrender the vehicle or we would be charged $600 to have it repossessed. We had been going in circles with the stupid bank since our layoffs 7 months ago, and I promise you no matter how great an interest rate they would be able to give us in the future, there is no way we will ever work with them again!!!! Plus, I'm gonna make sure all of my friends know that AZ State Credit Union is one of the worst lenders with which to work! Anywho, so a farewell "Cheers" to my husband's dream car!!
