Tonight I was searching through the Church website in preparation for my Sunday lesson and I came upon some videos the first presidency has put out for the benefit of the family (what isn't in the Church, right?). Anyway, I came upon one video that really touched me. It is a discussion of six adult women, including the General Presidents of the YW, RS and Primary. I never feel that we have enough spiritual things in our home, so the video title ("Bringing Up Children in Light and Truth") caught my attention. However, as I listened to their discussion I realized the primary theme through each comment was: "What can I do to be full of light and truth?". It's a 12-minute video, so I paraphrased a few of the comments that I wrote down as I listened.

*We are the closest thing to our Heavenly Father for our children.
*The Family Proclamation reminds us what our (my husband and my) roles really are.
*Establish a house of ... glory... a house of God. (this is a scripture that is quoted often, but those two points often get skipped over)
*Instill in your children a desire for eternal life.
*As we center our lives around Christ, everything keeps falling into place.
*In His strength, we find strength and it gives us the ability to change... and to do anything!
I've never considered myself a great mom, specifically because I have such a hard time holding my temper. I've become especially sensitive to that as I see Kaleb losing his temper so often. However, I've also become very aware that the more I seek Christ through prayer and scripture study and just seeking the companionship of the Spirit, it makes me calmer and that much more capable of "putting off" my natural self. It's very seldom i feel moved to post anything this personal but this video opened my eyes!

I have been working on not losing my temper so much too, lately. Thank you for this post, those are good things to remember.
I recently gave a RS lesson on this topic and drew the following correlations:
Light = Example = our Actions
Truth = Words = our Teachings
Thanks for sharing.
